Dordt student Michael Hornick earns high honors in national ag competition

Michael Gallagher of Hornick, Iowa, was one of eighteen Dordt College agriculture students who qualified and participated in the National Postsecondary Agriculture Student (PAS) Conference in Louisville, Kentucky. Gallagher was a member of Dordt's College Bowl team that took 3rd place, and he took 3rd place in the Agribusiness Sales Employment Interview individual competition. He is a senior majoring in agriculture with an emphasis in agri-business.

Eleven of the eighteen Dordt students took 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place in competition in team and individual events. In team competitions, Dordt College placed 1st in Beef Specialist, 2nd in Swine Specialist, and 3rd in College Bowl competitions. Approximately 750 students competed for their college or university.

PAS is one of 10 career and technical student organizations approved by the United States Department of Education as an integral part of career and technical education. Their motto is "uniting education and industry in agriculture."

Dordt College is one of only a handful of Christian colleges in North America to offer a four-year agriculture program.
