De Jong Joins Defenders

Sienna De Jong, a senior at Oskaloosa High School (Iowa), has announced her intention to attend Dordt College and join the Defender cross country and track programs.

De Jong has qualified for the Iowa High School State Cross Country Championships four times and finished fourth in 2014 and seventh in 2013. She was a three-time team mvp and team captain and claimed all-conference honors four times. De Jong has earned recognition multiple times as an LHC All-Academic performer in track and cross country and has advanced to the Iowa High School State Track and Field Championships in each of her three seasons so far.

De Jong has personal bests of 19:33 on a 5,000 meter cross country course and has run the 800 meters in 2:32; the 1,500 in 5:07 and the 3,000 meters in 10:56.

Sienna is the daughter of Steve and Deb De Jong of Oskaloosa, Iowa. She plans to study Biology at Dordt College.

Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC).

U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
