Elizabeth Steensma toured the East Coast with Dordt College band and orchestra

Elizabeth Steensma of Lynden, Washington, journeyed to the East Coast over Spring Break as part of the Dordt College Band and Orchestra Spring Tour. Steensma is a sophomore majoring in Secondary Education and Agriculture Education. Steensma plays the Cello in the Chamber Orchestra.

Dordt College's Concert Band and Chamber Orchestra started its Spring Tour on March 3 at Unity Christian High School in Fulton, Illinois, and concluded with a homecoming concert March 17 at Dordt College. Along the way the bands played schools and churches in Michigan, Ontario, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Ohio, Illinois, and Wisconsin.

Selections included A Moorside Suite by Gustav Holst, Danzas de Panama by William Grant Still, The Red Machine by Peter Graham, and Turkey in the Straw by Michael Markowski.

Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, has a long heritage of musical excellence. Many Dordt College alumni have distinguished themselves as successful music educators and church musicians.
