Janelle Bolkema to Perform in Europe with Dordt College Orchestra

Janelle Bolkema of Sioux Center, Iowa, will embark on a performance tour with the Dordt College Chamber Orchestra to Europe. Bolkema is a junior majoring in elementary education. She also has minors in early childhood.

The 32-person orchestra will travel to Germany, France, and the Netherlands. Their tour will include many cities that played a significant role during the Reformation, including Heidelberg, Eisenach, and Wittenberg. The trip also includes a stop in Dordrecht, where the Canons of Dordt were written, an event that inspired the naming of Dordt College.

Music is an integral part of campus life at Dordt College. Approximately 300 U.S. and international students participate in the music program, with opportunities to perform in four choral groups, two orchestras, and three bands. Music scholarships are available to qualified students.
