Joy Roelofs on service project with Dordt College during winter break

2013 Jan 15

Joy Roelofs of Tyler, Minnesota, was one of 23 Dordt College students who traveled overseas to Jamaica during their winter break on AMOR (A Mission OutReach), a week-long mission trip where students help with construction and renovation projects while sharing Christ's love with others.

Roelofs is a senior majoring in agriculture with an emphasis in plant science.

One reason Dordt encourages international mission work is because of the cross-cultural learning opportunity it presents to students. A common thread through the stories shared by past AMOR participants is that they have learned about themselves in the light of these other cultures and of God's love and work around the globe.

Dordt College, in Sioux Center, Iowa, was recently named an honor roll member by the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, which recognizes institutions of higher education that promote community service and show meaningful results in their communities.
