Laura Schrotenboer Shares Psychology Research with Dordt College Community

2011 Nov 30

How does exercise affect our willingness to help others? What do people really think about bullying? These are some of the questions psychology students have researched in preparation for the 15th annual Dordt College Psychology Student Research Conference. Presentations from three groups of students will be held Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 3:30 p.m. in the Campus Center's Eckardt Lounge.

Laura Schrotenboer of Sunnyside, Wash., along with two fellow Dordt students, tested the persuasive impact of global and local social norms on attitudes toward bullying. They worked with students from two local high schools.

The presenters all designed original experiments, collected and analyzed data, and compiled their findings. "All of the projects have some significant results, so it should be an exciting conference for all who attend," said Ryan Brunner, assistant professor of psychology.
