Nathan Ryder represented Dordt College at the American College Theater Festival

Nathan Ryder of Willmar, Minnesota, competed at the American College Theater Festival Region 5 (ACTF5) representing Dordt College in the Irene Ryan Scholarship competition. Ryder is a senior majoring in Mathematics. He also has minors in Applied Statistics and Chemistry.

Ryder was a Nominee for the Irene Ryan acting competition. Nominees prepare a scene and a monologue with their partner for the first round of auditions, which includes about 360 Irene Ryan nominees. Semi-finals include 64 nominees and the final round includes 16 nominees. Then only one moves on to the Kennedy Center for the national competition.

ACTF5 is a full week of competitions, workshops, and performances hosted in Des Moines this year. Region 5 includes all schools from North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, and Kansas. Students from the graduate and undergraduate level compete in the Irene Ryan acting competition, the Design Expo, original playwriting, Stage Crew Showdown, and more.
