Neuman and Chapman Named Scholar Athletes

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced Monday that 255 Division II women's basketball student-athletes have been named 2014-15 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. Dordt College's Abbie Chapman (Junior; Arvada, Colorado) and Emily Neuman (Junior; Maplewood, Minnesota) have been accorded the honor.

Both Chapman and Neuman are studying Business Administration. Both juniors played in and started all 30 games for the Defenders this season with Chapman averaging 12.5 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game and Neuman averaged 4.8 points and 3.2 rebounds per game.

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved at least junior academic status.
