Rachel Limmex competes at agriculture conference

Rachel Limmex of Ankeny, Iowa, represented Dordt College at the State/National Post-Secondary Agriculture Student (PAS) competition. Limmex is a junior majoring in Agriculture with an emphasis in Animal Science.

Limmex received First in Swine in the team competition and first in the Livestock Production Employment Interview at the State Conference competition. She placed First in Swine in the team competition and second in the Livestock Production Employment Interview at the National level.

At the state level, seven of the 13 Dordt College teams placed within the top three. In individual competitions, 23 individual students also placed in the top three.

In the College Bowl event, in which teams comprised of five students, competed to answer questions about agriculture economics, agriculture mechanics, crops and soils, livestock, and current events in agriculture. One of the three teams representing Dordt College defeated an Iowa State team to take first out of 24 teams.

At the National level, five of the 10 Dordt College teams placed in the top 3 in their competitions. Several members of these teams also achieved individual rankings in the top 3. Additionally, in the individual events, 8 individual students placed in the top 3 in their respective competitions.

Dordt College is one of only a handful of Christian colleges in North America to offer a four-year agriculture program. Over the past several years, all Dordt agriculture students have found positions within six months of graduating, most much sooner.
