Services that tutors and teaching assistants perform include one-on-one and small group tutoring for specific courses, proofreading, and leading study sessions offered by the Dordt College Academic Skills (ASK) Center. The center saw 4,086 visits last fall from students seeking the free support services available to all Dordt College students.

Tutors and teacher assistants help students increase their learning in courses and develop skills needed to be successful in their college careers.

"Peer tutors and teaching assistants demonstrate the heart of what it means to be a learning community," says Pam De Jong, director of the ASK Center. "The interaction of tutors and students enables all participants to deepen their understanding of course content, evaluate their learning strategies, and hone their communication skills."
