Rebecca Steiger takes honors at state PAS Conference with Dordt College

Rebecca Steiger of Lynden, Washington, participated in the 2015 PAS Conference at Honey Creek Resort in Moravia, Iowa. Steiger was a member of the Dairy Specialist Team that took first place (Steiger took 2nd individual honors). She also took 3rd place individual honors for Agriculture Education. Steiger is a junior majoring in Agriculture: Animal Science. She also has a minor in Communication.

This year, 230 students from 11 Iowa colleges competed, and 31 Dordt College Ag Club members competed on 11 teams and in 13 individual events.

Dordt qualified for 27 spots at the National PAS competition, taking place in March.

PAS, the national Postsecondary Agriculture Student organization, is associated with agriculture/agribusiness and natural resources offering to approved postsecondary institutions. PAS is one of 10 career and technical student organizations approved by the U.S. Department of Education as an integral part of career and technical education.

Dordt College from Sioux Center, Iowa, is one of a handful of Christian colleges in North America to offer a four-year agriculture program. Over the past several years, all Dordt agriculture students have found positions within six months of graduating, most much sooner.
