Tia Nieuwsma tours with Dordt College instrumental groups

Tia Nieuwsma of Sioux Center, Iowa, is embarking on a winter instrumental tour with Dordt College during the school's winter break. She is a senior majoring in music with an emphasis in performance and pedagogy. Nieuwsma plays saxophone with the college's Jazz Band.

Touring through Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa, the Jazz Band and Chamber Orchestra are directed by 2013-14 visiting conductor Yurii Henriques. Freewill donations received will help defray tour expenses.

Approximately 300 U.S. and international students participate in the Dordt College music program, which offers opportunities to perform in any of four choral groups, two orchestras, and three bands. Music scholarships are available to qualified students.
